Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
2020 Tokyo Olympic Games
Project
As part of the IOC Boxing Task Force (BTF) project and after following all the boxing qualification stages for the Games, the YAK Agency team managed communications for the boxing tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, in collaboration with the IOC, the International Olympic Committee. This is already our agency’s fourth appearance at the Olympic Games.
International Press Office
During the Olympic Games in Tokyo, YAK Agency reported on the competitions and athletes’ stories through daily articles and press releases in English. A total of 34 news items were written and published on the Athlete 365 – Boxing corner website. In addition, in collaboration with the IOC Communication Department, we organised press conferences to present the Olympic tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Main Press Centre, coordinating the presence of athletes, authorities and the media.
Media Relations
SAY managed local and international media relations on behalf of the IOC Boxing Task Force, in coordination with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) press office and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games press office. During the Olympics, we managed daily relations with accredited media present on site, as well as relations with media connected remotely, facilitating coverage of the event in coordination with various stakeholders.
Production Tokyo 2020 Boxing Media Guide
SAY was responsible for producing the content for the Tokyo 2020 Boxing Media Guide. In the Media Guide, we reconstructed the run-up to the Tokyo Olympics through the ‘Boxing Road to Tokyo’ qualifying tournaments, retraced the history of boxing at the Olympic Games, described the biographies of the top athletes competing, the new regulations, the BTF Rankings, statistics and much more, coordinating a team of consultants.
Photo Management
SAY, through its photo specialist, took charge of photo management for the boxing venue during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. A representative from YAK Agency travelled to Tokyo two months before the start of the Games and remained there until the end, coordinating and managing all the photographers present during the Olympic boxing tournament.
Web Layout
SAY provided consulting and graphic output for the creation of the web layout of the website dedicated to the IOC Boxing Task Force project, ‘the Boxing Corner’, based on the Athlete 365 platform.
Press Operations
As part of the Tokyo Olympics, SAY collaborated in managing press operations, working in synergy with the Olympic Games Organising Committee, providing support in coordinating the media present and ensuring the smooth running of press operations in the mixed zone.
